Kingdom Building

Greetings John Wesley Faith Community,

We who hold each other in our hearts by prayer and by prayer are held in the heart of God.  Grace and peace to you from God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who through the Holy Spirit reaches out to us every day with strength, comfort, and guidance in the ways of God’s Kingdom.

A word on prayer today from the writings of Thomas A Kempis in “The Imitation of Christ”.  “Walk Spiritually”, meaning do not walk alone but always seeking and acknowledging the presence of God.  Thomas puts it this way: “do not be too slow in turning thyself to prayer, for by it we focus our life on Thee and Thee alone.  God is the one who doth rescue and repair those who place their trust in him.”  Therefore, “wait, wait I say for me: I will come and heal thee…not only entirely, but also abundantly and in most plentiful measure”.
Daily, persistent prayer keeps the focus of our life on God and the richness of God’s goodness and mercy.  Prayer produces an attitude of trust in the steadfast love of the Lord.  Is there sickness and disease, trust in the healing power of God.  Is there trouble and affliction, “take it to the Lord in prayer”.  Are there hard choices and uncertainties, stand strong by leaning on the rod and the staff of the Good Shepherd?
As we pray, our lives are drawn closer to God, realizing the Lord’s presence, and placing our trust in God’s grace.  Never as escape from what is, but for the assurance that in the midst of all that is stands that Spirit of the One who created us all upholding those who look to him.  Keep looking.
Psalm 55:4-8 offers a beautiful image:
My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death assail me.
Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me.
I said, ‘Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.
            I would flee far away and stay in the desert;
I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm’.

Please know that it is in our hearts to include the prayers of everyone in our time of Prayer during our Monday Night Call to Prayer.  We hope you will send prayer requests through our chat box on Sunday mornings during our worship services.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
I pray that we continue to stay safe, stay well, stay faithful, and stay blessed. Amen!

If you must go out, wear a mask. AND Please, Practice social distancing.

I Love You.  I Miss You.
See You on Sunday,
Pastor Carter-Rimbach

Bible Study:

Some of us know some facts about God, but do we really Know God? Do we have religion or are we in relationship? Our new study, which begins Wednesday evening, September 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., is designed to take us “Beyond Belief” into relationship.

The six sessions of our study will focus on some of the major attributes of God. As we come to know more about God’s holiness, God’s love, God’s justice, God’s forgiveness, God’s wisdom, and God’s faithfulness, our lives will be changed.
